Personalized Dog Collar For Your Dog

Personalized dog collars are a great way to give your dog a unique look. As your dog will be wearing a collar the vast majority of the time because it has your dogs ID tags on it, you will want to make sure the collar looks great on your dog. It would be such a shame to put money into grooming your dog nicely to then go and slap an ugly $2 lime green collar on its neck.

If you do not want to buy a personalized dog collar, then all is not lost. There are still many variations of dog collars you can buy that off the shelf, or off the internet. You can buy a lot of different collars in various shapes and sizes. It is very important that the collar you buy fits your dogs neck size, so be sure to size the collar correctly.

One of the gripes people have with normal collars that are not personalized is a lack of choices in style. When you buy a collar off the shelf, you are limited in the styles you can buy. To be fair, many are made in many different styles and patterns these days. You can buy all sorts of different colored collars, ranging from ones with a zebra pattern on it to ones that are rainbow colored. The problem though is you can not be sure that there will be any left in your dogs size. If you buy a personalized dog collar, then you know you can get a collar that is the right size in your choice of colour/pattern.

Buying a personalized collar saves you time. If you buy one off the shelf you must search around to find a collar that is the right size and the right style for your dog. This could potentially mean trips to many different stores. This takes up not only precious time, but expensive gas money. If you buy a personalized dog collar, it can be delivered to your door. All you will need to do is put it on your dog and you are good to go!

Personalized collars are a great way to have your dog stand out. Many companies will engrave words onto the collar. This opens up all sorts of possibilities. You could even put something humorous on it such as "beware of dog" on your collar if your dog is small and cute! With a personalized dog collar, the choice is all yours.

The Best Age to Kennel Train a Puppy

So, when is the best time to kennel train a puppy? How should I start, where do I start? Sound familiar? Well, let me tell you the best time to start is when you arrive home. The very second you bring your new puppy home. It's time to start, now what? Don't freak out, just put a towel or some blankets inside the crate along with some treats.

Now, it's time to introduce the crate to the puppy. Encourage her to go inside by placing some kibble or treats next to the door and some inside the kennel. Once she discovers them, praise her and praise her a lot. Always keep the crate a positive experience. Now that she has started to become comfortable being around the crate, it's time to start closing the door. This time put treats near the back of the crate and when she enters to get them, close the door for a second. Don't forget to praise her. Slowly increasing the time the door is closed.

Now that she is becoming comfortable with the door closed, start to walk away for 3-5 minutes. If she starts to whine, don't let her out, as this will only encourage that type of behavior, instead wait until she has been quiet a few minutes then let her out. Don't make to big a deal when she exits the kennel either, as this will make her want to be let out. For being such a good girl, take her for a walk, love her, and play with her.

When you kennel train your puppy just remember to be patient and show her lots of love and in no time the crate will become her friend. For further information on kennel train puppy please visit http://www.squidoo.com/kennel_train_puppy.

Ideal Age to Take Your Dog to Obedience Classes

Dog owners will want to be proud of the dogs they own. Not only will they want to feed the best food to their dogs and give them the best health care, dog owners will also want their dogs to be obedient. And to instill this obedience in dogs, it is necessary to give them some obedience training through obedience classes.

The importance of obedience training

Obedience is a must for all dogs. With obedience training, you can expect to find a solution to the discipline problems that you encounter with your dog. In order to avoid domestic problems, which are common when a dog is introduced to a new household, you have to send your dog to training classes to ensure that your home is safe for your family members, especially your children and other pets.

In addition to providing a safe environment, obedience training also establishes a line of communication between the dog and you. And it is with this communication that it is possible for you to instruct the dog to do what you want it to do. Once the dog learns to communicate with you, you will be able to teach it to obey your commands.

There is no age requirement to enroll your dog for obedience classes. A puppy can learn to do tricks and follow commands when it is as young as 8 weeks of age. It is better to take the dog to obedience classes at around 4 months old, right after it has completed all its vaccinations. Usually, basic puppy training courses accept puppies between 3-6 months of age.

Basically, it is easier to train dogs that have a basic understanding of basic commands like "sit" or "stay". Training an older dog can be more challenging because it has already developed some habits that may be undesirable to you.

It is not the dog but the owner that the dog trainer trains

Many kennels, pet stores and independent trainers conduct training courses for dogs. When you take your dog to an obedience class, you may be surprised that it is not the dog that the professional dog trainer trains. Instead, you are the one who will be taught how to train the dog.

However, you can also send your dog away to a training school to be taught obedience, but you will have to know what the dog has been taught, and how to use and reinforce the techniques that have been taught to the dog. With owners and dogs attending classes together, they learn more about each other, and how to work together under the supervision of the trainer.

It is easier to train a dog if you are aware of the commands and methods that are taught to the dog. Moreover, by attending obedience classes, you and your dog can meet other dogs and people, and learn more things from them.

Obedience training requires consistency, patience and understanding

Your dog will respond better if you are consistent in the way you handle it. With clear cut instructions, the dog learns everything it has to do, where it has to do it and what not to do. Understanding your dog's needs is a difficult part of obedience training for you. However, as you spend more time with your dog, you will know how to read its movements and expressions, and find the right way to teach it.

Although dogs are expressive by nature, they cannot tolerate discernible messages from inexperienced owners. It is through biting, whining and being fidgety that puppies learn to communicate with you. And it is with the right response you give the dog that you will have an obedient and healthy puppy that will grow up to be a great companion for many years to come.

Finding Discount Pet Supplies Online

If you're a pet owner, you know how expensive pet supplies can get over time. Luckily, the Internet has allowed many pet stores to offer discount pet supplies. Some companies are wholesale suppliers that get the products at a discount and pass the savings on; others are pet stores that want to thin out their inventory so they offer products online at a discount. If you shop around and compare prices, you can find food, toys, beds, clothing, and medications at reduced prices.

How to Find Online Discount Pet Supplies in the UK

Start by searching the Internet for discount supplies. You can use any popular search engine to put in search terms that will lead you to different sites. Many of these discount sites are wholesalers. You will find a variety of products, separated by category, at many of these sites. You can also search popular pet suppliers and see what they have on sale. Not every discount item is on a wholesale site, so it's important to check traditional sites to see what they have on clearance. You may even be able to combine savings by using different sites.

Saving on Medications

When you're a pet owner, you know how expensive it is to keep your animal healthy. Everything from heartworm pills to flea medications to dewormers can be found at a discount. Some medications are temporary, while others require a monthly refill. For medications that don't require a prescription, such as deworming medication and flea medication, you can easily find these products for a cheap price. For medications that do require a veterinarian's approval, like heartworm pills, you can use an online supplier who will verify with your vet that they can supply you with the requested medication.

Finding Additional Savings

Besides the reduction of overall cost on the supplies, you can use coupons and free shipping offers to save even more money. Some stores offer coupons to returning customers. These can either be a percentage off or a certain amount of money off an order that's over a certain purchase amount. The only downside to these coupons is that you have to make an initial purchase in order to get your contact information into the system and the company will start sending you savings information. Some online stores also offer free shipping on all orders over a certain amount. By combining these savings, you can get your pet supplies for a greatly reduced rate.

Choosing a retailer that specialises in Pet Nutrition can save you so much money in both feeding and unnecessary veterinary bills! Check out the pet supplies at http://www.k9capers.com/. This online pet paradise offers a wealth of products for happy and healthy pets.

Dog Kennel Plans - Build Your Pet a Castle

My husband came home with a golden retriever a few years back and I fell in love with her. The problem was, my husband didn't believe that dogs should be in the house and I didn't like all the dog hair on everything. We live in a warm climate, but it does rain a lot. We wanted her to have her own special space and somewhere to keep her dry. So we got online and researched Dog Kennel Plans. We were shocked to see how many different plans there were to choose from.

Out of all the dog kennel plans available, we finally picked the perfect one and purchased it. Through our extensive research we also found out that pressure treated wood could be bad for her if she was a chewer. Well, she is still young but doesn't chew that much. We just decided we didn't want to take the chance and will only use the pressure treated wood on the frame work of the dog kennel and we will use the same type of composite building material that we have on our house for the outside and inside walls of her new kennel. The composite building material really stands up well in rainy climates.

The other important factors to consider when looking for your perfect dog kennel plans is the size of the kennel. You want to make sure it is big enough for your pet, with plenty of room to move around. If you live in a hot weather climate, you will want to make sure there is plenty of ventilation from all sides. If you live in a cold weather climate, you may want to insulate the walls to protect your pet from the really cold temperatures.

We added an extension to the roof all the way around the dog kennel so that there was extra shade which would also keep the kennel cooler as well as giving her additional shade from the sun and protection from the rain.

When choosing from all the dog kennel plans available, you really need to think about the environment your dog is exposed to and then choose the kennel plan accordingly. You want your pet to be comfortable and safe.

Give your dog it's very own special space that is perfect for him. Choose from hundreds of Dog Kennel Plans Here! I am sure you will find one that fits your pets needs.
